In 2021, Claudio decided to share his designs with the world with the introduction of  “The Dunn Collection”.

Claudio Rotondaro’s DUNN Collection is comprised of three table designs, and all the tables complement each other. The tables are available in Espresso (dark) or Natural (light). We hope you enjoy his furniture with same excitement and pleasure that has been Claudio’s these last several years.

 

T  H  E    T  A  B  L  E  S

The tables are manufactured in the U.S.A, in Los Angeles, California. The wood surfaces are rift white oak, a type of oak that boasts an attractive, visible grain that accentuates the quality of the wood.

 

 

Mitred corners testify to the quality of craftsmanship. Precisely cut plexiglass panels fit snuggly into the table. Smart LED light strips by Philips Hue, a leader in smart lighting, are positioned securely within the tables. The lights are wirelessly connected to a single hub that is attached to a wi-fi router, and each hub can handle up to 50 tables. The lights can be turned on or off, dimmed, or changed to one of 16 million colors. The tables are networked so that changes occur instantly and simultaneously. Easy-to-use and easy-to-setup input devices control the amount and type of light that emanates from each table. The tables are sturdy and durable, yet are elegant and classic. Claudio Rotondaro’s “DUNN Collection” is the next step in the evolution of high-end furniture intersecting with the latest technology to provide maximum aesthetic excellence and unlimited convenience.

 

T  H  E    W  O  O  D

Claudio Rotondaro designed his tables with a minimalist style in mind. Sharp angles and clean lines define their contemporary look. Claudio finds that rift white oak provides the most luxurious and appealing look because of the pleasing grain.

 

Each table is constructed so that the grain is “flowing” in the correct direction. And rather than having overlapping surfaces with visible seams, table corners are carefully mitred so that panels meet at 90 degree angles.

The weight of the table is taken into consideration, as well. The tables are just the right weight—heavy enough to provide stability, but light enough to making moving the table a relatively effortless task. And the wood is expertly hand-sanded to provide a “snug” fit when the recessed plexiglass panels are set into the table.

Plexiglass panels (or acrylic sheeting) that are frosted on both sides were chosen as an appropriate material for the tables for several reasons: 

  • Plexiglass is flexible and scratch resistant and is suitable for use as a tabletop
  • It’s available in ¼ inch sheets for sturdiness
  • It can be drilled and cut into panels with precision
  • It is sufficiently translucent and, therefore, conducive to providing the desired luminescence

     

    T  H  E    L  I  G  H  T

    Philips Hue smart lighting was chosen because of the quality of the product, its ease of use, and the technical support provided to customers.

     

     

    The incorporation of this smart lighting system into the tables makes possible the following capabilities:

    • Change the colors of the lights instantly
    • Dim the tables or turn them on/off simultaneously
    • Turn the tables on/off with a cell phone or tablet, a wall-mounted wireless remote, or a voice command—whichever proves most convenient
    • Download many smart light apps
    • Create environments which simulate rain forests, the ocean, thunderstorms, passing clouds, etc.
    • Add audio from apps via a Bluetooth speaker
